Get To Know: Warriors & Quiet Waters
Warriors & Quiet Waters Foundation (WQW) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit whose mission is to serve as a catalyst for positive change in the lives of post-9/11 combat veterans and their loved ones through the experience of fly fishing in Montana.
To accomplish this, WQW:
- serves veterans, their spouses, and military caregivers from all branches of service and across the United States.
- offers therapeutic Fly-Fishing Experiences during which Warriors find respite from stress and anxiety, discover an enhanced sense of camaraderie, greater trust in others, and a greater sense of purpose.
- provides transportation, accommodations, home cooked meals, professional instruction, and a complete fly-fishing set-up for warriors to keep all at no cost to the participant – including high quality products like Loon Outdoors’ silicon-based, temperature-stable Aquel Floatant that is essential for a good drift and high riding dry flies during a Blue Winged Olive Hatch.
Since its inception in 2007, WQW has provided 926 experiences to Warriors, Caregivers, and Spouses. And our work is far from done. In 2021, we will be piloting two new programs. The Family Fishing Experience will serve the family unit and was developed with the resolute understanding that the effects of war can extend far beyond the deployed Service member. Additionally, the Conservation Fishing Experience will engage Warrior Alumni in meaningful conservation projects to protect and steward the natural resources that we value so dearly.
